Hi all,

well, i'm not exactly looking to expand my music horizons, i'm just looking for more of what i already enjoy. so i turn to the gargantuan musical hodge-podge that is head-fi.

female-based music i already listen to, in no particular order:

The Cardigans
The Cranberries
Sarah McLachlan
Alanis Morissette
Natalie Imbruglia
Eurythmics
Garbage
Jewel

you might be able to discern a sort of trend in my choices - i enjoy music that is both easy on the ears and in which the female voice features heavily.

think comfort food for my ears.

so, any further recommendations?

Ah, now this is my kinda thread. Good suggestions so far, I'll definitely second Tori Amos, Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, Paula Cole, Poe, Fiona Apple, and Hooverphonic. Other suggestions:

- Kim Richey
- Charlotte Church : Enchantment
- Maaya Sakamoto : Hotchpotch (if you don't mind hearing Japanese)
- Nightwish
- Within Tempation : Mother Earth
- Kate Bush
- Alannah Myles

I know I'm leaving some out, but this'll do for now.

Another enthustiastic vote here for Curve and Kate Bush.

Also, I cannot believe nobody's suggested the Cocteau Twins!

Oh, and perhaps also check out Blondie, the Go-Gos, Bjork/Sugarcubes, and Sinead O'Connor.
