Second that on the pad choice, I put a pair of leather angled pads on a lightly modded t50p and they sounded awful.
Thought they would sound similar to the mad dogs but they were miles off.
Like rhamnetin said thinner the better for sure, think shure pads seem to be popular, as for durability these headphones would probably withstand a nuclear strike.
