I do not want to tie up my computer in any way by burning DVD/CDs. I am looking for a separate component that is fast, reliable, user friendly, and under $500.00 U.S.A. Thanks!

I don't know of any combined CD/DVD burners but for about that price I was
able to get both a Sony DVD recorder and a Teac CD recorder both with which I am very satisfied.

Get a cheap used computer or a new bargain basement deal with a burner.

You don't need much processing power to burn discs.

I own a Harman/Kardon CDR 26 cd player/writer (double deck). It has plenty of digital and analog inputs and outputs and can even be used as an entry-level DAC. Last but not least does not sound too bad. It can be found on ebay for around $150.
