Hi guys,

I listen to most of my audio via my laptop; and movies through my PS3 and Samsung 5 series LCD TV. Phones wise, I'm using Sennheiser IE8s and the HD 555s.

What I'd like to know is if any of you had any input as to whether I should get a dedicated DAC? Ideally as the topic name outlines, I'd like to have one with the DAC built in. I'm currently contemplating the Bose companion 5s though some people have spoken about AudioEngine A5s (not sure if this requires an external DAC). I'm curious about the built in DAC and furthermore, if anyone had any other recommendations to make.

Cheers

I'd say that with your full-size cans, a dedicated amp is a must, and having one with built-in DAC doesn't seem to increase the price that much. I think you'll be very impressed with how much more you get from you phones with a better amp. The difference will not be very noticeable with the IEMs.
