I've been out of the loop for a while and wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions, from anyone whose been around the block but still up to date with current offerings. I really like the HD650/HD600. I go back and forth which is my favorite but land most often on the HD600.
I can be pretty happy with the SE535. I wouldn't mind more sub-bass when its called for but I like its fairly linear bass, just not the extension. The treble though is lacking. The SE535 just sucks with classical/strings. Though I do like the HD600, I really don't want anything that bright. The ER4S is too much for me.
I'm really not fond of mid-bass bleed. I find the W4R was close to perfect, but the stalks/shafts where a little shallow so getting a seal was stuff for me. I find the W40 is way too bassy.
