Will be used exclusively with HD25-1's, no amp. Must have flawless (ok, just bug-free

) Linux drivers. Oh, no external systems... too much CPU overhead for gaming. What else. Ah - the card must absolutely, positively not be bass-deficient

Doesn't look I'll have much of a choice here, though. Here are the cards that I could readily find:

M-Audio AP 24/96
Terratec Aureon 7.1 Space
ST-Audio DSP24 Mk. II
Terratec SS DMX 6Fire 24/96 (and LT)
I could propably locate the M-Audio revo somewhere...

Also, while it's not very highly regarded here, I'm switching from an Audigy 2 ZS, and definately don't want to go even one notch lower in sound quality.

I have no idea about EMU 1212M's Linux drivers and how good they are (if they exist), but the card is available at 199€ at Thomann.de if you are willing to order from Germany. Postage shouldn't be too much.

edit: Also the EMU 0404 is available there at only 99€. There's some threads about that card here and they have a lot of positive things to say about it.

AFAIK EMU's cards don't have Linux drivers at all right now. The best card you can get right now that works with Linux is the RME HDSP 9632 (which is likely out of your pricerange) followed by the RME PAD (which might be out of your pricerange as well). Most M-Audio cards also work under Linux but aren't as good as the RME's or EMU's.

Well, looks like RME is out the question - the 9632 goes for 444€, and for a 96/8 PAD I'd have to dish out 315€ (add 10-20€ shipping for both...). Which leaves M-Audio (and possibly Terratec):

Revo 5.1/7.1 - 95€/125€
AP 96/24 - 95€
Delta 44 - 125€
Delta 66 - 169€

I don't suppose there are linux drivers for the A2, should I decide not to upgrade at this time?

i've got a terratec dmx 6fire which i love its great, yup terratec drivers arent great and i have no idea about Linux support. and in my experience tech support although fast was not so informative.
i also have a SB 2 modded to SB 2 ZS so i know the difference between the two cards

my m8s have got the aureon which is also an excellent card, the revo as well is an excellent one.

Maybe I'll just get a good USB soundcard and keep the Audigy for games. I wonder if the Audiophile USB is good enough...

Thanks everyone.

breez & quke - I take it you both are Muropaketti members?

As of now, NO.
