Hi everyone,

I am new to this community and the entire headphone/audiophile community in general. I just built myself a new pc, and I was wanting to spend less than 50 bucks on over the ear headphones (preferably closed back (isolating, from what I have researched, correct me if I am wrong)).

I was looking at the Sennheiser 419 HD's for about 40 bucks off of Amazon.com . Would this set be okay, or is there something else that would get me more for my money? Thank you so much for your responses!

You'll get much more for your money, if you can save an extra $25.  At about $75, you can get a CAL!   See:

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA

Or the Sony MDR-7506  See:

Or maybe the Grado SR 60i.

+1 Agreed, best choices. I vote for the Creative Aurvana Live, the most.

Regarding the HD-419...I don't like them at all...too dark for me...gave them to my son.  That said, my next high value buy will be the CALs...just waiting for them to hit $55 on Amazon again.

I would definitely look at lJokerl's thread (http://www.head-fi.org/t/433318/shootout-107-portable-headphones-reviewed-astrotec-as-100hd-as-200hd-added-12-02-12)    It is a great resource.  I have purchased several sets of cans based on it -- haven't been disappointed yet.

FWIW - he says the value at street price ($119) for the ZX700/701 is 8.5/10 and Brainwavz HM3 (same as Fischer FA-004) is a value of 8.5/10 at street price of $68.

Without knowing your music preferences and within your budget...all high value headphones.

Sony ZX-701IP ($50)

Brainwavz HM3 ($26)
