Good morning, everyone,

I’d like to buy a new pair of headphones, and I’m hoping for some advice. I listen to all kinds of music, mainly rock/metal/punk and acoustic. I’m looking for a very full-bodied sound, where male vocals come through clearly, with good punch, strong bass, and nice detail. I’m not looking for a refined sound but rather something fun and engaging. Another important requirement is that they should be suitable for summer use—I don’t want them to get too hot or make me sweat. They need to be quite comfortable as well.

I’ve tried the Hifiman 1000 Stealth, which many recommended as top headphones suitable for all music genres with amazing detail, etc. I was quite disappointed, especially considering the price. I also tried the Sennheiser 660s2, which I liked much more, but I found them a bit too closed off, with not enough detail.

I also own the Denon 5000 and D9200, but besides being too hot, I don’t find them engaging enough. As I’ve mentioned, I’m looking for something that makes the music I listen to most really exciting.

What would you recommend?

As for the budget, I’m still deciding—it depends on how convincing the recommendation is

What amp and DAC are you using? Some headphones respond better than others depending on what you are using to drive them.

I’m using an iFi Pro iDSD Signature as my amplifier, but I’d also like to be able to use the headphones with my phone and smart TV. I might consider buying a small amplifier for these devices if I can find a suitable one...

I've already tried them, but they didn't convince me, especially on the low frequencies, which are too light...

You might want to consider some of ZMF offerings. I am a recent ZMF Atrium Open owner, and I listen to Rock/Metal, and acoustic music as well (as well as nearly every other genre, lol), and they sound more to my liking with those genres vs my Arya Stealth. They have a very natural presentation, and fuller bass/slam, but they do have a narrower stage than the Hifiman offerings (granted amp pairings can slightly alter this). I am currently using a Mjolnir 3 and Vali 3 to drive them (depending on how I am feeling that day ).

As for a possible smaller headphone amp choice that will be used for your phone and TV, are you using it as a preamp for speakers as well, or just for headphone output?
