I know XINHS offers customization via PM. You can ask for Etymotic MMCX connectors and ask them to remove the ear hooks or custom the type/color of the connectors.

I read some people complained the cable that they come with gets ruined quickly, I don't like this planned obsolesce and forcing us to buy their own cables.

I hate proprietary cables too. But the Adorama deal for the Ety 3XR was too good to pass up. For what it's worth, the cable is thin but has seen a lot of use without visible wear. No mic, though.

There are a few third-party cables on AliExpress. Just put Etymotic Er2xr cable mic in the search box.

There are many more cables without the mic -- search er2xr cable. Who knows--maybe the braided ones aren't so noisy.

That's one of the few reasons i got rid of my Er2xr, finding a cable is not easy.
