I came across my old Ray Samuel's Predator for the first time in a long long while last night (retired only due to change in mobile audio needs) and out of curiosity I plugged it to my Macbook Pro and FAD Sonorous VI's

Turns out I loved the sound of this combo - seemed to match the FADs really well and offered a warmer sound compared to my trusty Classic DacPort without sacrificing detail or clarity.

Would there be anything in the $100-$400 range which would replicate this sound and synergy with my Sonorous VI's but powered from the USB port and with 24/96 or higher capability?

As an aside, I find the Sonorous to be very sensitive to noise floor/hiss and my DacPort Slim is distractingly loud here, so the ideal solution would need to manage this!

Cheers all

I cannot say whether it will replicate the sound you're wanting.

The Dragon Fly red and black are receiving much attention.

Take a look at the thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/805832/new-dragonfly-black-and-red-discussion

Another option could be Schiit Fulla to research.

I had been seriously considering those already - glad to hear support for them here!

My only niggle based on the spec - and it is a small one - is the lack of volume control on the unit...
