Turning 21 baby, want some sweetass phones. Was gonna get some iems to replace my se210 but in the end i decided i like the sound of sound, full size to replace my rp-22x seems like a wiser choice, ill settle with my 210s.

I use an ipod and my laptop (almost always plugged in). I have very basic needs. Durability, comfort, and closed. Thats about it. The rp-22x sounds pretty good by my ears, but they are incredibly uncomfortable. Whoever designed those dumb double pads needs to work on supraaural instead. Why use 4 inch cans if they dont even go around your ears... In any case, although i realize they are atrocious, the bose triport and the sony v600 fantastic. I wat that, but with good sound.

Gonna probably buy from the bay, so around 200 is my target. Velour pads are nice.

Thanks guys.

If you need durability, comfort, and closed cans... I think Beyer DT770 or Denon 1001/2000 would be the best choice in that price range. But I am a noob and other people would give you more advice.

I have mainly been looking at those two. Wish they had detachable cables. Any other recommendations? Id have to say my priority is on comfort.

Comfort>durability>sound quality (as long as its better than the equations)

Why do you want a headphone to a have detachable cable?

Well, you can get someone to recable and put rca jacks on the cups to make the cable removable. It should cost less than $200. Probably $150. $100 or the Beyers and $50 for labor and cable.
If not, you can get the K271s. They have a detatchable cable, but you probably won't like them. The consensus is that they lack bass. I disagree, but different strokes or different folks.

@Bengt77. Well, if the cable breaks or something, it's a lot easier to replace. I dislike it though. It gets in the way for balancing my headphones.

I have a dog. I hang my cans up, and uplug the cable so if he somehow gets ahold of it it doesnt pull the cans to the floor. Furthermore, i want different options for cable length. I really like what im seein with the dt770 but a 10 foot chord...thats overboard to me. I need like...4 feet.

Thats certainly an option. Another thing: anyone know what the piece holding the cups is made of? Its really thin, is that metal? And by chance would anyone have pictures of this thing on?

I'd say get a pair of Denon D1001's (Around $100) or a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770's (Around $100 on eBay) + a pair of RE2's (IEM's) ($39!) and maybe a cheap used Mini^3 amp?

I'm not sure what it is, but I know that these cans have a reputation for monstrous durability.

If you break the DT770s, please post here of how you broke them, as I'm sure it would be an epic story.

I think this is probably the best way to describe their durability.

It would no doubt involve an enchanted weapon and a great warrior.
