Paul Hardcastle should fit your requirements.  Most of his stuff his instrumental but some tracks have vocals.  His most famous song is "19"; there are also some tracks with female vocals ft Helen Rogers or like this one, his daughter Maxine:

Wow! I'm really "new" to music, meaning that before I got good headphone a few months ago I only listened to rap, and I heard this kind of jazz a few weeks ago and I just couldn't find out what it was called.
