Hi all
I'm using Sennheiser HD800s and Astell & Kern Acro L1000. Seems like the A&K Acro L1000 can not meet the impedance of HD800s, the sound looks not very bright and powerful.
I'm looking for alternative Head Amp which can fullfill the requirement of HD800s
- Option 1: keep the A&K Acro L1000 as DAC function, add another Head Amp to improve the sound quality
- Option 2: buy the DAC/Amp
I prefer to spend less than 1000$
Pls help to recommend me some choices.
Thanks

I did some homework and found choices for option 1:
- Headphone Amp Beyerdynamic A20
- Schiit Jotunheim (Stand-alone Amplifier)
Any idea these amps will work with my A&K Acro L1000? these 2 choices are about same price in my country.

I don't know much about your Acro L1000. But in general, Jotunheim is quite forwarding and tonally bright-ish amp. It can work great with many headphones. But not so much with HD800 in my experience.

I'd rather recommend Lyr 3 among Schiit amps.

Another considerations:
Monoprice Monolith Liquid Platinum
HeadAmp Gilmore Lite Mk2

Hi!

I have borrowed a Sennheiser HD800s with an Burson Conductor 3R and am listening over tidal with my notebook plugged in via usb-c. The sound is quite underwhelming to be honest. Can the source be that bad? Listeing to Tidal Master recordings and the amp shows its either 88k or 96k. really just sounds thin...any suggestions to beef this setup up?

Thanks!
