Hey guys, I was given for free a pair of AKG K81DJ's which do not work on the left side. Now, I was wondering if, and how, can I fix or at least attempt to fix them. As I have no idea how to open the cans nor do any 'wire work' I'd be much appreciative if someone would explain how to open the cans in order to understand what went wrong.

PS: Any guesses as to why they are borked? Does this happen often?

Thanks

Edit: searched via Google, as the built it search didn't give me much help. I was able to open the cup. According to a different thread the problem is or in the jack or in the cup's cables. Yet how do I know where and how can the jack or cup cables be changed\repaired?

Open up the earcup so you see the back of the driver and make sure the wires are connected to the two pads on the back of the driver and they aren't loose

Also it may be something wrong with the plug itself which may require retermination of the end, unless you can get the plug open. Also could be blown out or a dead voice coil or something.
