I've noticed a slight channel imbalance on my E12A, starting about a month ago. At first I thought it was just a pair of headphones, but then I tried a bunch of them and it repeats, both on high and low gain, regardless of the device feeding it, or bass boost. I've recorded it over line-in, and apparently I was right (look at the full screen one):

The green one is the left channel, cut and painted over the right one.

The difference on paper is about 0.03 db, but it's more noticeable when listening, and lemme tell you, once you notice it, you can never forget about it.
I disassembled the unit, but all I found was a loose screw on the battery connector cover (making odd noises when shaking it) and fixing it didn't do anything to the sound.

Any clues or tips other than replacing it?
The unit is normally plugged to a 1st gen X5. Now I know the X5 has a channel balance feature, but, it only works for the headphone output, and I'm not double amping because the X5's amplifier sucks balls and affects the sound coming from the E12A.

Does it change with volume setting on the E12A? What volume are you listening at?

Hi, sorry for the late reply.
So at present, you still think your E12A is imbalanced? For your this case, how about sending it to us for test firstly. Yes, we want to confirm this problem firstly. Kindly send email to us (support@fiio.net). We will help solve this problem directly.

thanks. i just did.
I also spoke to the local dealer earlier today on phone about this and they told me that it will take 25-30 days to get a replacement after inspection which means that from the day I get this product shipped back to them from my end, it might take anywhere between 30-40 days to get the replacement and I feel it is quite a lot of time. It would be great if you could advise them to ship a replacement back to me within a day or two after the inspection.
