I'm going to recable my SR225 and i can't decide which cable should i use. The reason to recable is the practical issue - i need 1.2m cable with mini plug for my Karma and ca. 1,5 meters extension for my home rig. Will the cheapo (3$ per meter) cable be sufficient and won't decrease sound quality ? I'm thinking about Mogami/Canare/Belden starquad...

The Canare StarQuad is an excellent choice of cable and should be great for the Grado's. Although it really comes down to what sort of sound your looking for. I notice that copper tends to bring out the bass, whereas others have said that silver brings out the highs.

If you're looking to get silver cable in Europe, I believe that Qables sell them in their DIY section.

What is the step up (from Canare Starquad) in the "cable ladder"?
