It would be nice to start a thread that has a master list of the type of headphone you tried / or did re-cable along with your findings.
If you have pics of the internals of the cable that would be a nice extra.
This is an effort to make it easier on people doing re-cables, so they don't necessarily have to open the stock can/wire up to know if it can simply be re-terminated or not for a balanced setup.
I will start:
Beyerdynamic dt880 (600 ohm) Manufaktur - purchased April, 2010
Stock cable has:
Red - Right
Blue - Left
Bare - Ground
3 wires, and will not be able to just reterminate this stock cable for a balanced setup

Cable has outer rubber, and then also an inner rubber covering on the 3 wires.
There is also an irritating hard white plastic portion on the 1/8" end under the rubber covering, which I was able to remove with a exacto knife.
