Hey all, I recabled my Grados a while back and now it seems there's a slight 'rattle' almost coming out of the right transducer at high volume. Could it be I resoldered it out of phase? Or maybe that I may have damaged it when I used the pan+hotwater method of softening the glue.

To clarify it doesn't sound like something is physically rattling, but more like a crackle like if it the levels were peaking when a song tries to reach low freqs.

FWIW I'm listening on a Zen Vision M > Qable LOD > PA2v2 > SR-125

Just a guess, but there could be a poor connection somewhere... or just a hair in there. Many people complain about "grattle" and it turns out that a hair got in the driver chamber.

It's probably a hair that got in there by accident. A bad connection wouldn't have the symptoms you give and neither would over-heating your driver.

I got the "grattle" from a hair in the driver once. I was able to get it out by using a needle carefully on it.
