I'm looking for some portable headphones to use on an iPod. I listen to all sorts of music.

I've been considering the Koss KSC-75 earclips, but they're so darned cheap

I don't want to take my HD 595s out of the home, but I'd like some nice portable listening. Possibly HD 201s are the right choice since they can take a beating?

EDIT: this should probably go in the portable audio forum

And I've been thinking about the Sennheiser PX100

I like the 201s fine but they are hard to drive. Not very sensitive. If I were going to deal with a long cable on my portable phone anyway, I'd go with the AKG K 81DJ. See the incredibly long thread on them now going on.

KSC75 is the best portable of those 3 IMHO. Add to that the fact that its cheap, and the lifetime warranty and its a landslide.

Second vote would be the radio shack pro35A. Basically a headbanded KSC75.

third would be the UR40. More open sounding than the KSC75, and doesn't have the bass bloat.

I'm not a fan of the HD201.

my vote goes for 75s. I am in the process of "downgrading" my portable to a shuffle and a set of KSC75s. Pa2v2 when I use my UM1s. The 75s are an amazing set for the cost, well amazing out right, even if they cost $40.

I think you should pick up a pair of PortaPro2's. I find them much more comfortable to use than any of Koss' earclip headphones. Also the PortaPro2s have more bass than the KSC-75. I find that with any prortable open headphones the bass is the first thing to go and with the extra bass that the PortaPro2 give, they are a much more fun set of cans to listen to than the KSC-75.

But then again if you really want the details, then go with the 75's since you lose a lot of detail with the extra bass of the portapro2's.

I think the KSC-75 wins

Now I have extra money to spend on a PA2V2, which will drive my current HD 595s and my many-years-away HD650s

Very good choices. And don't discount plugging the KSC75's into the PA2V2. As good as they are, they're even better amped.

For the money KSC75! For a closed headphone, I like the ATH-FC7 for good bass thumping music. Not so good for classic...
