Hi, I'm a bit of an audio noob so bear with me. I want to order the schiit modi/magni combo but I have a question on routing possibilities. I plan on using the combo for headphones and just the dac for some speakers. I was thinking about putting a rca splitter between the dac and amp and then running one cable to the amp and one to the speakers so I can change what I am listening to easily. Is this a bad idea? Will a splitter degrade the sound much? Thanks.

You should be fine using a splitter. A lot of us use one with no impact on quality. I have split the signal to two different hp rigs. Now if you have the budget for one, a versatile DAC will have multiple outputs with individual volume controls for feeding amps. But a cable splitter would be much cheaper.

I know this isn't the right forum but as an extension to my question Is there anywhere say under 300 that has both headphone out and line level? I really like the idea of the audio engine d1 but I hear the dac isn't very good...
