This may be a dumb question.

-Will an 3.5mm to RCA Y cable with white and yellow (instead of red) RCA ends work to hook up speakers to my computer. Can I just use the yellow end for the right channel and white end for the left channel?

Bought some emotiva5 powered speakers (RCA inputs on back), trying to connect to my desktop sound card.

I have a cable that looks exactly like this, except the red end is yellow.   Or do I need to buy something similar to one in the link.

If you have a multimeter, you can do a simple continuity test to see which channel is which. The pointy part is Left, then Right, then ground.
