I haven't seen as much on the forum about this amp as I used to. I know the ALO Mk111 is getting a lot of talk but I was curious about the Sr-71b.

How does this sound in terms of soundstage, detail, and especially bass? In doing a search for this amp on the forum, I saw some comments from owners that the bass was lacking. Is this a characteristic of this amp?

Thanks,
Ken

i've had the SR-71b as my main portable amp for probably a year.  It's bass is not lacking at all in weight, i think this is actually one of its strongest points.  However, I don't think it's the most defined/tightest bass.  I also have the Alo National, which seems to me to have tighter bass but less quantity.
I haven't heard the Alo Rx MkIII, but from reading the posts, it seems like it beats the SR-71b in bass, and i suppose overall.
if i didn't have the SR-71b already and I was choosing between the two, I'd choose the Rx MkIII.

Hi, May I know did you use SR-71B on apple ipod? Did you use DAC?

One thing that impresses me about the SR 71b is how small it is, especially considering its power. It's much smaller than the Alo Audio National.

Does SR-71B perform well when pairing with CLAS? I mean the bass, soundstage, separation, mid and high?
Have you tried Alo's RX-MK3 with CLAS? if yes, which amp do you recommend, SR-71B or RX-MK3?

Wow. You want it all. :)

I have compared both the RS and the MK3 using my Clas and the MK3 has more detail. The RS is rather dark in comparison.

One thing I found going balanced as opposed to single ended is that even though the soundstage is bigger going balanced, there is more detail and impact going single ended.

I thought I was going to like balanced as my 2 channel system in my room has all balanced interconnects and the digital cable going from my transport to the DAC. However for me it sounds better single ended with my portable setup. I am using Senn HD-25's. I have LCD-2's coming this week and maybe my opinion might change after that.

cyberalpha11: i've never heard the Rx MkIII.
ken6217: were you referring to Rx MkIII when you compared SE to balanced?  I'm interested in finding the best portable/transportable amp for my Ultrasone Signature Pro, and I have stock SE cable.  Triad Audio L3 has my attention, but if the Rx MkIII even in SE mode sounds great, I'm interested in this, too.
