Sony WM1A>AK240>AK120>Onkyo DP-X1>Cowon Plenu D
Of all of these I think the two biggest jumps were between the WM1A and AK240 and the AK120 and DP-X1 (I really didn't like the sound of the DP-X1 to be fair though).
