Thoughts guys? Seems to be a very cheap solution for a usb-based audio set-up. Has anyone tried this yet?

The pi has severe USB issues. There are patches for it on github and forums about it on the raspberry pi forums. Basically after setting up the fix its as simple as using a powered USB hub. And yes it works great!

Also check out gmediarender-ressurect project.
