I recently took delivery of a Raptor and it sounds great. I know this is not the first thread of this kind but there must be some new users/info out there. What tubes are you using and what headphones seem to have synergy with your tube choices?

I have a Raptor and what I have been told is the 12AU7 should be a Telefunken while the 5687 should be Tungsol. I have found the Telefunken but haven't been able to find the Tungsols.

Tung-sol 5687's are very readily available on EBay, and are not hideously expensive, with a matched pair going for $25-30.

I bought a pair of Tung Sol 5687s on ebay for about 25 bucks and also some RCAs. I have an RCA 12AU7 as well. Can you tell us how the Tung Sol Drivers sounds as compaired to the stock tubes? Also, what headphones are you using?

Tungsol 5687 are the best for Raptor. I also liked Mullard 12AU7 (CV4003) - really gave a nice euphonic sound as the Raptor is not very "tubey" to begin with.

Which cans did you make those conclusions with?
