Rank the best sounding daps that you heard

N6ii E01 for me is my favourite-sounding portable player so far. I really like the implementation, and ESS sound in general since I had Opus#2 (which has low amp power unfortunately, hence was let go). Now curious how it would compare with SE100 (ES9038) & SE200 (ES9068). Looking forward to giving them a try once I can get to the store. I couldn't really like the AKM sound, dunno why. It's somehow too velvety warm, and not bright enough for my taste. Or perhaps poor synergy with my IEMs and playlist. The Sabre sound signature highlights the mids, especially the upper-mids more I feel. And AKM the lower-mids.

As for my favourite desktop/non-portable player, hands-down the Sony DMP-Z1 was the best I've heard though :) It sounds excellent all-round. And very well-balanced/neutral.

I am One of those addicted to Calyx M.

Btw, why QLS QA 360 or 361 are not showing up in the lists? :)

Why are you ditching the n3pro?

Why are you ditching the n3pro?
Maybe because it was just new and hyped. Not necessarily the newest daps have the best sound, maybe they have more features, faster ui...

Of the one's I've personally owned....

1. LPGT
2. N6II
3. SP1000
4. R6 Pro

With that being said, I've come to realize DAPs are an ineffectual device, FOR ME. I used to own a decent collection of portable gear, but gave them up completely in recent years.

My personal experience and biggest complaints with DAPs... they are usually clunky with terrible UI, dreadful Wifi performance, tiny screen, poor battery life, heat issues, heavy/awkwardly shaped, bugs, slow performance....

I believe a much better option IMO for general portable use is the latest cellphone + good wireless ANC headphones. For example, Note 20 Ultra + Beoplay H95.
They may not sound as good as a high-end DAP + IEM, but definitely sounds good enough for easy listening, and way more useful w/ the ANC for frequent travelers and for daily commutes.

For the ultimate listening experience, I have my full desktop setups.

Lots of you will disagree, and that's OK. But that's just how I feel.

Was it too warm sounding? What was worse about it's sound?
