Hi everyone,

My misadventures with modding my 225 1/4" plug are well known in the diy forum. But I seem to have arrived at last.

Not content to leave well enough alone, I wonder if anyone's tried increasing impedence by using the Etymotic ER4s adapter, or similar, with their Grado.

Is there any noticeable sonic improvement?

i tried it 2 years ago, when i owned the sr-225s. all i can remember is that i prefered the 225s w/o it.

i did it to my sr-125's so that my ballanced amp would drive them more cleanly.

i also dont know that its worthwhile unless you need it for some reason.

Okay, a variant question--halfway intelligent, this time

I use a Rio Carbon connected to a TAH. Will listening to the 225 with the Ety adapter increase the drain both Carbon & TAH, or just the TAH?

I've used a 75 ohm adapter with the SR225, MS-1, SR200, etc- no grado sounds good with an additional resistor tagged to it imho, even with an amp.
