Lookig for a .ra to mp3 converter.


Tons of them out there, but I'm looking for
freeware one, and one that doesn't have a limit
before you have to buy it.

i.e. there where a few free ones but only
let you convert 10 or so then you had to buy it.

I think dBpowerAMP by Illustrate is the best free multi-format audio conversion program out there. You can download it here:

Then go to their codec central page to download and install whatever audio codecs you need including the one for Real Audio files. The MP3 codec is already built in into the program.

i use a program called switch. there are 2 versions: the freebie that works fine and a pro version that has some extra features you probably dont need. its made by nch audio. check it out here: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html

Do either of them have a limit on the # of conversions ?

Oops, the dbpoweramp looks like a trial version ?
Not sure if I got the codec downloaded right.

p.s. what I have is .ra files on my pc that I want to
convert to mp3, don't want to put them on a CD..

Making dBpowerAMP a trail version (probably for certain codecs) might be a recent thing. I’m running older versions on my computer and there is no limit in terms of a date or the number of files I can convert. See if you can find an older version online. I’m sure they’re floating around somewhere.

dBpowerAMP should have no trouble converting an .RA file to an .MP3 file. How the resulting output sounds is another story.

Do you still have the .exe ?
