At one point I knew a little bit about these things, but that was a long time ago.

I was given a pare of Grado GS1000s by a friend and I still don't have a good amp to go with them. Right now I'm using an iBasso D3, which I'm sure is grounds for execution here.

So, tell me, with a max budget of $500, preferably less, what is a good tube amp for the GS1000s?

OTL Tube amp will put you in the right direction. You will spend more. Trust me!

This would be a great place to start.

For tube amps,

And solid state,

Yeah, I've read those a few times, but I'm curious as to which ones would go best with the GS1000s. Thanks for the response though, much appreciated.

EDIT: Thanks for the extra-responses! Any link to the OTL amp? Tell me it's not DIY. DIY is a no-go.

amps which provide more current are recommended for low impedance headphones, but OTL tube amp is usually high voltage, and transformer coupled ones should give more current in additional to voltage IIRC.

PS: someone please correct if I've said something stupid
