Hi, I just bought a RA-1, the first amp that I have owned. Since I haven't used a headphone amp before, I am somewhat unfamiliar with it.

Whilst I was listening to music, I noticed a gradual decrease in the quality of the music. The bass was the first to go, with strong distortion and clipping. Is this due to low batteries or is my amp dying (I bought it used)?

And secondly, I was wondering about the little light in the front of the amp. I have seen pictures here and there, and I am wondering if the light is supposed to stick out of the case, flush with the front or quite far in. My LED light is a good 1/3 cm inside the case.

Your amp's ok. Its your batteries that are dying. Change them

The LED light in mine is also inside & not flush the front case.

Recommended 9V's around here are the Plainview from Thomas Distributing. Do a search on Plainview and you'll find plenty.

Like the others have mentioned...the batteries are dying! Plainviews....the only way to listen!
