How exactly does it damage headphones?

How much clipping is needed to cause damage, if this is quantifyable?

Does clipping damage the device thats playing music?

Is the clipping caused by a weak player with lots of Bass Boost applied damaging on headphones?

Does exposure time matter?

Is the damage permanent or temporary (if this is possible)?

Thank you... just trying to control some paranoia.

Clipping turns nice sine waves into something that resembles more or less square waves. Pure sine wave contains only single frequency. Perfect square wave on the other end contains every possible frequency. When clipping occurs, nice bass wave with lots of energy turns into a wave with lots of different frequencies, including high frequencies, with lots of energy. Where the bass speakers can handle (and need) lots of energy, the speaker elements for high freqs usually don't need and can't take much energy so they get busted..
