I'm about to upgrade my existing audio hardware and will be purchasing the following:

Krk rokit 8 monitor speakers

Krk 10s subwoofer

Xonar essence one dac/amp

Beyer dynamic 880dt pro headphones

( I compose music using cubase 6.5)

I am wondering how exactly I would hook up the krk's (the speakers and the sub) to the Essence one...

Here's a link to some pics showing the back of these speakers/sub

Back of the Essence One:

thanks!

To me, it looks like you have 2 ways of connecting the Essence One to the KRK speakers.

RCA to TRS cable(s) (I believe TRS is just a mono 1/4 (6.35mm)) jack.

Or the funny three prong to funny three prong connectors.
I would guess the funny three prong is the best.

And plug the sub-woofer into the "sub" jack

The proper way to do it in this case is as follows:

A)  L/R XLR out on Essence One ----> L/R XLR input of SUB

B)  L/R XLR out of SUB ----> L/R speakers

C)  Another way would be to use some sort of monitor controller that has separate outputs marked for speakers and sub.
     Something like the KRK Ergo desktop unit would do nicely for example.
