Hi, i'm planning to buy either e2c or e3c. . .

since i gave my er-6i to my dad ( i didn't like the "thin" sound )

i saw the website where it sells e2c for only 59 bucks + shipping,

but still i can't make decision. = (

i'm gonna use it w/ my 4G 20gb ipod.

is e3c only sound good w/ an amp??

i need recommandations

The e3c's sound great w'out an amp. I have yet to really test them out on my Porta corda, but I used them for a couple months straight from my 3g Ipod, and was very happy once I found the proper fit/comfort/sound earpieces, and my ears acclimated to them.
I and others highly recommend them.

You don't need an amp and they sound great.

128kbps MP3's are gonna sound pretty crappy with anything but the cheapest phones. I suspect even the E2c will force you to increase the bitrate. My recommendation is to use LAME to encode using one of the "--alt preset" command line switches or use AAC at 192k or higher if the iPod will be the only DAP you plan on using for a while.

The E3c sounds very good straight out of my 3G iPod. I rarely have to jack up the volume past 50% and I tend to like my music loud. Of course the quality of the sound is likely to improve with an amp, but it certainly isn't necessary.
