Just based on soundstage which one is bigger and better? I know they're probably pretty similar but I saw someone mention the AD700 drivers are more angled which creates a bigger soundstage? or are the AD900's not angled?

From what I've read, this differs from person to person. For some people the angled driver simply does not work for them and then the AD900 gives them bigger soundstage, while some people won't notice a difference and for some people the AD700 clearly have a bigger soundstage. It somewhat depends on the shape that person's ear.

I only have the AD900 and have no experience with the AD700. I plan to change that in the (distant) future, as I might buy an AD700 for my younger brother.

You can't wrong with either.
Besides, their soundstage is serious overkill for my needs, though not unwelcome.

have had both.
the ad900 has more range in the bass area and is far more neutral than the ad700. i much preferred the ad900. for twice the price is it worth it over the ad700? maybe...

x2
The AD700 are recessed in the upper-mid/lower-treb which make them smooth and more relaxed, while the AD900 are more prominent in that area which make them more neutral and natural (brighter as well)
IMO the AD900 still have better and more accurate soundstage, while the AD700 have a more laid-back sound, which might make you feel they have bigger or deeper soundstage.
