what's the best volume to set the preamp to minimize distortion ?

i will just set the volume on my monitors to compensate..

Good question. I'm setting one up now with a new pc and my new A2's

after fiddling:

i set the master volume to 10am then volume on the monitors to 2.

you wouldn't think it was distorted till you play around with the settings and hear what's better
