If I didn't like the HD 650 would I like the HD 25-1 II? Do the HD 25-1 II have the "veil"? The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of going with closed headphones for my portable rig instead of ear canal phones for convenience. (easier to take on and off)

Also to note, I'm really diggin' the Grado sound right now. Would the HD 25-1 II sound anything like a Grado? If only Grado made a decently priced closed headphone that doesn't leak, I'd be all over it.

yep. the HD25-1 II would sound like a grado very much. better than a grado in some respect, as a matter of fact.

I can only compare them to HD595 (and some other non-Sennheiser headphones) and I would say that the HD25 do not have the veil. I like them pretty much and sold my Alessandro MS1s when I got them...
