Hi all. May be putting together a new computer, which I use for everyday tasks as well as listening to my collection of lossless music via ASIO. I currently have an Athlon 64 which used to run with CnQ enabled (which helped tremendously with temperature and noise), however when I started using ASIO I got hisses, pops and clicks which I found resulted from CnQ. As soon as it was disabled the sound cleared up perfectly.

The new PC will either be an Intel E6300 or an AMD AM2 X2 processor, but I wanted to find out if anyone out there has the latter, with CnQ enabled, and uses ASIO without any negative affect on the sound. There is unfortunately no way to test this beforehand.

Cheers.

Hmm I use the CnQ feature extensively (actually control it with RMclock, down to about .85v idle), and have never had problems with ASIO. It could depend a lot on the motherboard and audio cards used, and potentially even some BIOS settings. It's hard to say exactly what the problem is in your case. Here is the gear I've use successfully with CnQ:

DFI Lanparty NF3 250GB (Socket 754)

EMU 0404, 121M
RME HDSP 9632, Digi 96/8 PAD
Chaintech AV710

No troubles here from CnQ, but I am sure that certain systems set ups might be affected by any program that cuts the CPU speed by 50%. Look for other system resource hogs. Clean out your system tray, If you have a music playback only computer, consider getting it off the net, and do away with mal-ware applications.
