I recently got a pair of M-audio BX8s off ebay and they came in today. I was very excited to try them out until I ran into a problem of how to connect a source to them. Later on I would like to take advantage of their xlr inputs with a high quality source but say I wanted to connect a normal analog source like the mini output of my laptop or the mini lineout of my cowon iaudio x5, how do I connect them to the bx8s considering that it requires two 1/4 inch inputs (one per speaker)? I've never run into this kind of setup before and the manual isn't too specific. I saw a splitter cable that makes one mini outputs into two mini outputs and i could put a mini to 1/4inch adapter on each, but that doesn't split the signal it just duplicates it, is that how you are supposed to do it? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Whoops i should have just checked out m-audio for the back view. Has a 1/4" unbalanced/balanced plug and an XLR...

well...

You could try

http://www.hosatech.com/hosa/products/audio.html

1/4" to RCA and then use an RCA female to 3.5mm adapter (like the one from radioshack but... with female inputs)

or do XLR to RCA

thanks for the help, I went to radio shack and they had 1/4inch male to rca female adapters so I just used my existing mini to rca cable.
