Hey,

Anyone here playing Frozen Throne online? (battlenet)

I usually play this at internet cafe nearby my place, but since my final exam will finish next week, I am actually thinking to get this game and just play it from home, so I can save some money from playing at cafe.

Just wanna know, do we actually have to pay a monthly fee for this? I know World of Warcraft requires you to pay monthly, that's why I'm not playing that.
But how about Frozen Throne?

And in order to play, so do we have to get the original Warcraft III and original Frozen Throne in order to be able to play this game online?
And basically, what kind of connection speed do we need (minimum) in order to play this smoothly online? Because if my connection isn't good enough, I'd just forget about this then.

I'm using ADSL 512kbps, so that translates to roughly at least 30kbps download (real life situation)

If some of you play this online at home, would you mind explaining to me ? Thanks.

I used to play this game for a while. You do need to get the original warcraft and then install frozen throne which is an expansion pack. There is no monthly charge for the game, it's all free. I have 1.5 mbps dsl and I've never had I problem with connection. I doubt you'll have a problem with your adsl.

I finished my finals yesterday, so good luck with yours and have fun playing warcraft.

Free eh? Good then. I'll get it next week or the week after. I think I'll just get the Battlechest version (the Warcraft III + Frozen Throne + guide), it's cheaper than buying them separately.

Don't know why they made us to pay for World of Warcraft though. Bummer.

I used to play it online. Never bothered vs. other human opponents, just me and a buddy vs a few comps. Gameplay is very unbalanced, either we got beat to **** or we totally tore the comps a new one. Hence the reason why i didn't bother with it for too long, minus the slowdown problem when we played 2v6 and there were just too many troops.

I still play starcraft online which is a hell of a lot more fun.

Warcraft has some amazing use map settings games but if you only play melee i would have to say the brood war is WAY better it seems like it has so much more strategy and is way more fun. Not saying the Warcraft is bad just starcraft is better.

starcraft > warcraft III
guild wars > world of warcraft

Biggie.

I honestly think starcraft is perfect. There's not a single flaw in the damn game in terms of strategy (which is endless), selection of troops, upgrades...it's just perfect.

I really did enjoy playing warcraft 2 on kali back in the day, it was intense to play 3v3 with real people...the longest battle i had last over 2 hrs...my right hand was killing afterwards.

I used to be very very good at Broodwars but haven't played it for many years and now i am back to dodgy player again...

so this guild wars, is it only free for certain period of time, or free forever like Diablo and stuff ?

So you reckon I should buy Guildwars instead ? This game is not something that I will get bored after 2 weeks right?

The Frozen Throne is really worth it just for the Single Player Campaign, which is totally awesome. This is really how the original should have been in the first place. They added a lot of stuff and gameplay is a lot better overall.

I agree about the balance vrs. comps, but vrs. real people over the internet and the game is a lot better. They fixed some of the balance issues(which werent that bad, IMO) with patches.

Oh, come on, do you really want to play terran vs. protoss?

That's just not fair!
