Could anyone recommend these as being an excellent pair of earbuds?..Some have said they'd even perfer these over Shure's. I'm thinking of purchasing them, and would like to know if you think theyre worth getting.

I am not aware of the sound signature of shures so can't comment on that but sony are pretty damn good. They are comfortable and have great bass.

Sonys have good mid-bass, but they don't have the more subtle lower-bass tone slam that many audiophiles crave for. I'd recommend Shures over Sony's anyday, but if I had to choose in the same price range, I'd probably get the Ultimate Ears SF3 over both.

The Sonys: Passive iso is good, SQ is mediocre, IMO. Boomy as a booming...boomer, I guess...

Yes, that booming is the mid-bass slamming away at your ears, instead of the deep bass that makes you feel it deep inside your head.

Jebus. Okay, never mind that pair then. Everybody lately has been suggesting the Senn x300's. But my main concern is the bass. Is the bass of the those IEM's not over powering, but controlled?..or is it like an out of control boomy type, like the Sony EX 75's seem to be.

well if you can buy senn CX300 then it should be the best IMO, they have great bass but yes it is boomy and does overpower the SQ; but they still sound good

you can upgrade from MDR 75 to MDR EX 85, I have EX82 which are same as 85 and they are pretty good, I mean real good. and they can be purchased from amazon for 41$ only. But make sure you buy them from trusted seller (amazon, newegg etc) cause there are too many fakes floating around.
