Hey. I'm considering to buy these active studio monitors.

I'm pretty noobish at this stuff. I have Nuforce Udac-2 which has RCA output. So what would make sense is that, I could connect the studio monitors to my PC with the DAC with XLR female to RCA male, right? The thing that just bothers me is, that the picture is stating "stereo system". Does active studio monitors count as that?

It should work with any two active speakers. However I am not sure if the front volume control controls the RCA outputs in addition to the front headphones jack. You may need to ask Nuforce if this is important to you.

I don't think that's the way to go, you have an unbalanced TRS input on the ESI, the uDac-2 also has an unbalance RCA output, what you need is a RCA <-> TRS cable.
Something like this I think http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_sssnake_spr_1030cinch_klinke_3m.htm

I'm assuming the connections are the same compared to that of of new near08 model, check out the section dedicated to unbalanced inputs.

Might be a noobish question, but where it states that uDac has unbalance output? Or is RCA always unbalanced?

I can confirm that the volume control works for the RCA output, and turns off when headphones are inserted.
