I recently acquired a used Stax 353X amp. It has RCA and XLR inputs and a switch to select between them. I wanted to do a DAC comparison, so I hooked one of my DACs to the RCAs and another DAC to the XLRs figuring I could just flick the switch and get a nice A-B comparison. I quickly noticed that the input was still coming from the XLRs even when I switched the switch to the RCA position. The only way to stop getting XLR input was to actually disconnect the XLR cables. Once I did that, the RCA inputs worked fine.
I just want to know, is this normal? It seems kind of pointless to have an input switch if the input stays on XLR even when the switch is in the RCA position.
Any input would be appreciated.
