I'm a noob so be gentle, I wanted to know why some speakers have 3 wires or more? Is there not just a left and a right channel? I'm not talking about certain gaming headsets like Turtle beach or Tritton but for lack of a better example the Beats by Dre Pro and Detox have a 3 wire configuration? While I'm at it what is the difference between a speaker and a driver?

Thanks for the link, so if I followed the information clearly the 3rd wire would be a crossover wire? Still don't quite understand why a single driver would benefit from a a crossover? Guess I have some more research to do. Thank you for your time
