Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and decent headphones in general, and I'm looking at getting something like a pair of Senn555's or maybe even Grado SR60's.
I've heard opinions that both of these phones do well without amps, but my problem is that my source is questionable (headphone jack on Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultras, from analog on SB Audigy2 ZS) and I'm looking for ways to upgrade it. My computer *IS* my media source and this isn't likely to change (I've got 12k songs in 256/320kbps).
Anyhow, I've also got a Klipsch preamp which I'm not currently using, and it could be digitally connected through SPDIF to my soundcard, and then it's output amplified.
My question is this: Would this alternate source method plus the addition of a lower end amp (my range is around $200 total) make a noticable difference with the headphones I'm considering??
