If you can make an excellent headphone with low impedance, such as the Denon line, what's the benefit of high-impedance cans like the Senns and the Beyers etc?

I'm not sure where the benefit is. I saw an interview somewhere with one of the Denon engineers, and he was asked why they are so low impedance, and his response was something like "we liked the way they sound and they're easier to power this way". So if they can do it, what's the purpose of a hard-to-drive set of cans like the Senn hd650 or the Beyer Dt880-600 or for that matter, any high-impedance can?

Thanks in advance for your awesome feedback, head-fiers : )
