Hi everyone, in a few weeks I'm going to be buying my first headphone amp/DAC (probably a Compass) but I'm a little confused about how my setup is going to work. What I want to do is have my speakers plugged directly into the analog out from my soundcard, then have the DAC hooked up via USB for my headphones. Will both the speakers and the DAC receive sound at the same time or do I have to switch between the two depending on which I want to use? If so is there an easy way to do that without having to unplug stuff? I'm using Windows 7 as my OS right now. Thanks

I think you will have to switch devices.
Go to:
Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Manage Audio Devices
Select a device in the playback tab.

I can't tell for sure because I am running Windows 7 as a virtual guest OS, so it only sees the single virtualized audio device and not all 3 I have installed on this machine.
