Question about iem and headphones

IMO full size. But there are often a lot of other factors that will determine which one will suit you better.

Given an equivalent budget, and roughly speaking, full size are gonna be cheaper for the same sound quality. However some people needs a smaller solution/better isolation, and this is where the IEM shine. It all depends on your use, and your own preferences.

Iems depend on sealing the ear from the outer world so I believe they will always sound different than open fullsize cans. But semisight is right, there are many other determining factors such as portability, budget, isolation, comfort, etc. Many of the 250 usd and up fullsize headphones are highly recommended/required to buy a similarly priced amp.

I think you can get just as good if not better isolation from iems, as many iems are basically earplugs with a hole for sound.
