Anybody know this was in the works? I saw it on CD Universe today, and quickly jumped over to Wal Mart and bought it.

After first listen, the old men from Queensryche did a nice job in recapturing the sound and feel from the original. "II" is missing the guitar heavy melodies that really made the original special, but it is still an interesting listen. Certainly a cut above anything Queensryche has done in the last half-dozen years.

To me, they are not the same without Chris DeGarmo. He was the source of the guitar melodies you mentioned. Geoff Tate is awseome, but DeGarmo balanced his heavy stuff with the melodic stuff.

I wonder why he left the band? Same old in-fighting?
