Maybe I'm thinking way too simplisticly about this, and maybe some of our more tech-savvy members can help out, (Tangent ??), but...

Shouldn't it be possible to simply jumper around the volume pot in a pcdp that has only a HP-out jack - in order to bypass the cheap factory pot?

I realize that there is probably a cheap factory op amp just ahead of that pot, but wouldn't it help the sound, (even a little), when using an amp?

I suppose there are probably other issues at stake - that old bugaboo - Impedance, but am hoping there are benefits, as well....
