Recently, I was knocked out by just how much improved the sound was coming out of an old Sony DVD player hooked into a new DAC, when compared to my old Kenwood CD changer on it's internal DAC. Since I love music but have no cash, this got me to thinking:
What are some of the good CD players out there on the used market that can be used in a transport mode? I'd like to start a list that I can have sitting by the 'puter when I tip toe through the local Craig's List or Eflay.

The rules are:
1) You must list the actual model number (it's hard to search otherwise)
2) The unit has to have a digital out
3) The model should be superseded and no longer made (newer, shinier models drawing off the "Kids with Kash")
4) Any price point is cool but rank it: Cheeeep >$100, Bag O' Groceries >$150, Car Payment > $200, No Starbucks for a Year > $300, Hide it from the Spouse > $500.
5) The usual suspects apply: Robust mechanism and build quality, reads at least CD-RW as well as CD.

I'll start:
Marantz CD-72 MKII - Bag O' Groceries
